Words©

Educators tell us that the best way to learn language is through repetition and association. Words© is a unique approach to learning SAT vocabulary because it uses both repetition and association. Each word is printed along with its definition and a short sentence in a format that can be printed on business card stock. This will allow you to make your own set of flash cards from Words©. The Words© card can then be placed in different places or by different objects.

Using the repetition technique, you can put a Words© card in a place that you go often. For example, you might place a set of Words© by your bed. Every night when you go to bed, you can practice a set of words.

To use the association technique, place the Words© cards in places or by objects that remind you of the meaning of the word. For example, the word “maelstrom” which means whirlpool, can be place by the toilet. The word “bountiful” meaning plentiful can be placed by your refrigerator or if that is not the case, the word “scarce” can be placed there.

You can think of lots of places to have the Words© labels---in your locker, in books, in the car, by your computer, TV and so forth. Be creative and learn at the same time!
